FAQ’s
How do you find a good builder?
The best way to find a good builder is to ask for referrals from friends, family, or other home owners in the area. You can also check online reviews and ratings, and contact your local home builders association. Once you have a list of potential builders, you should then meet with them in person to discuss your project and get quotes. Make sure to also ask for references from previous customers so you can confirm the quality of their work.
What to check before hiring a builder?
Before hiring a builder, it is important to check for the following things: licenses and certifications, insurance coverage, references from previous customers, and a detailed contract outlining the scope of the project, timeline, and payment terms. You should also ask for a quote that includes labor and materials, as well as any additional costs that may be incurred. Finally, it is important to make sure that the builder is experienced in the specific type of project you are undertaking.
What questions should I ask a builder?
When interviewing a builder, it is important to ask questions that will help you determine their experience and ability to complete the project. You should ask about their qualifications, the types of projects they have worked on in the past, and the materials and techniques they will use. It is also important to ask about their availability, timeline, and payment terms. Finally, you should make sure to ask for references from previous customers so you can confirm their quality of work.
What’s the average time your team takes to build a custom home?
The answer to this question depends on several factors, such as the complexity of your home
design. When you ask us, specify that you’re asking about the time spent on building homes like
yours. This can give you a general idea of what your timeline might look like..
Can you make my home energy efficient?
Ask yourself if sustainability matters in your dream home. If so, ask us if adding energy-efficient
components to your home design is possible. Rest assured that our aim is to build homes that
are not only sustainable, but are built for the future in mind, usually this coincides with lower
energy bills and can be quite beneficially financially for clients who are looking to be in their
forever home
How long is my house protected for and is it only throughout the building process?
By Law all Builders are required to take out Warranty insurance on each job. This protects the home
owner from an environment where the builder would be unable to carry out the work during the
build or repair any damage structurally to the home. You are covered for the duration of the build
and 6 years post construction through the Victorian Managed Insurance Body. However, if the
builder is still operating your home is actually Covered for 10 years!
How do I pick the materials or fixtures for my custom home?
Everything in your custom home should reflect your personality! Whether its us, your chosen interior
designer or architect we will all work with you to pick the perfect materials, fixtures and more for
your home. NB Custom Builds takes the necessary time to go over each detail of your home’s
interior design. This removes any stress from having to make design decisions during construction.
