Coppin Road, Sorrento

Feelin’ Groovy Sorrento – A home full of unexpected moments.

In collaboration with acclaimed Flinders-based architect Jamie Stuart of Mendi Moke, NB Custom Builds proudly unveils ‘Feelin’ Groovy Too’ – a refined, bold, and unmistakably unique Sorrento home built to stand apart.

Nestled in one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most coveted pockets, this Mid Century Modern-inspired residence brings elegance with edge. Clean lines, rich textures, and confident design choices define the architecture, while a vibrant, sculptural staircase emerges as a centrepiece in a home full of unexpected moments.

From the outset, the project was a seamless union of design vision and construction expertise. Externally, Silver Top Ash timber cladding wraps the home in warmth and precision, while inside, polished finishes and bespoke joinery create a calming continuity. Every element—from structure to finish – was executed with intentionality and flair.

Unique engineering challenges, including unstable soil and complex foundation work, were met head-on with transparency and swift decision-making. A standout feature—a custom Italian-made lift – adds both functionality and distinction to the design.

Delivered four weeks ahead of schedule and precisely on budget, this residence is a celebration of considered design, architectural integrity, and NB Custom Builds’ unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

Client Experience

From day one, the relationship between NB Custom Builds and clients Cath and Pete was open, collaborative, and built on trust. “Nick’s energy, expertise and genuine care for us and our project quickly became the hallmark of our relationship,” Cath shared.

With daily updates through the Wunderbuild app and regular onsite meetings, the couple remained empowered and involved. “They were always patient, generous with their time and contributions… and always available on the phone and email,” she said.

Material and design choices were navigated together, always respecting the Mid Century Modern theme without compromising on budget or quality. The team’s selected trades were described as “a dream team – all professional, easy to work with and highly skilled.”

The result? A building experience as exceptional as the home itself. “It was a fabulous experience that we frequently talk about. We were so lucky to find NB Custom Builds. We couldn’t be happier with our home.”

FAQ’s

The best way to find a good builder is to ask for referrals from friends, family, or other home owners in the area. You can also check online reviews and ratings, and contact your local home builders association. Once you have a list of potential builders, you should then meet with them in person to discuss your project and get quotes. Make sure to also ask for references from previous customers so you can confirm the quality of their work.

Before hiring a builder, it is important to check for the following things: licenses and certifications, insurance coverage, references from previous customers, and a detailed contract outlining the scope of the project, timeline, and payment terms. You should also ask for a quote that includes labor and materials, as well as any additional costs that may be incurred. Finally, it is important to make sure that the builder is experienced in the specific type of project you are undertaking.

When interviewing a builder, it is important to ask questions that will help you determine their experience and ability to complete the project. You should ask about their qualifications, the types of projects they have worked on in the past, and the materials and techniques they will use. It is also important to ask about their availability, timeline, and payment terms. Finally, you should make sure to ask for references from previous customers so you can confirm their quality of work.

The answer to this question depends on several factors, such as the complexity of your home
design. When you ask us, specify that you’re asking about the time spent on building homes like
yours. This can give you a general idea of what your timeline might look like..

Ask yourself if sustainability matters in your dream home. If so, ask us if adding energy-efficient
components to your home design is possible. Rest assured that our aim is to build homes that
are not only sustainable, but are built for the future in mind, usually this coincides with lower
energy bills and can be quite beneficially financially for clients who are looking to be in their
forever home

By Law all Builders are required to take out Warranty insurance on each job. This protects the home
owner from an environment where the builder would be unable to carry out the work during the
build or repair any damage structurally to the home. You are covered for the duration of the build
and 6 years post construction through the Victorian Managed Insurance Body. However, if the
builder is still operating your home is actually Covered for 10 years!

Everything in your custom home should reflect your personality! Whether its us, your chosen interior
designer or architect we will all work with you to pick the perfect materials, fixtures and more for
your home. NB Custom Builds takes the necessary time to go over each detail of your home’s
interior design. This removes any stress from having to make design decisions during construction.
